An introduction to playing Bowling

Use a short break to learn the rhythm of Bowling. Complete ten frames and maximise the score. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Identify the playing area and the controls you need. Use the example below to understand a decision.

Play ten frames using a two-dimensional bowling lane. Strikes, spares and bonus rolls count towards the total.

Take a closer look while playing

Keep the stated aim separate from side details such as animation or appearance. Progress is measured by the game’s own completion or scoring rules. Use the example to check your reasoning.

Aim for this result

Complete ten frames and maximise the score. The feedback beside the game helps you follow the round. Take a moment to understand the current position.

How a round unfolds

  1. Set lane position and power.
  2. Roll into the rack.
  3. A strike ends a normal frame; otherwise roll again.
  4. The tenth can earn bonus rolls.

Keyboard and screen controls

Lane-position/power sliders and Roll ball. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Use the visible help when you are unsure of the next input.

A closer look at one example

A strike followed by 4 and 5 scores 19; a spare followed by 7 scores 17. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Keep the controls nearby.

An important reminder

Bonus-dependent frames may not yet have a confirmed total. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
